Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is simply a conversation. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what you've been carrying, and what you hope will change. I'll ask questions, offer initial impressions, and answer any questions you have about my approach.
There's no pressure to share everything at once. We'll work together at a pace that feels supportive and purposeful. I encourage clients to explore their options—the right therapeutic relationship matters. If I'm not the right fit, I'm happy to help you find someone who is.
How long will therapy take?
Therapy isn’t meant to last forever. While some people have more to work through than others, the goal is always meaningful progress. We’ll move forward with intention, checking in regularly to make sure therapy remains helpful and that you feel prepared when it’s time to graduate.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
At this time, I offer telehealth sessions only. I may expand to in-person services in the future and will update this page if that changes.
Do you take insurance or provide superbills?
I’m an out‑of‑network provider. Many clients choose to submit superbills to their insurance for possible reimbursement, and I’m happy to provide those. It’s always best to check with your plan so you know what they cover.
What types of concerns do you help with?
I help clients navigate a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem, grief, stress, and identity development. I also work with clients who are exploring faith, spirituality, and how those areas connect with their mental health and personal growth.
My approach is tailored to each person's unique experiences, goals, and needs.
What states do you provide therapy in?
I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. Through the Counseling Compact, I am expanding my ability to provide services across additional states, including Arizona, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, and Ohio. As the Counseling Compact continues to expand, I will update my availability as additional states become available.
Do I have to be Christian to work with you?
No. I work with clients from many backgrounds. If you want to integrate faith, we will. If you don’t, we won’t. You set the tone, and I follow your lead. My role is to understand your worldview, not to steer it.
What is your faith background and training?
I have specialized training in faith integration through Liberty University and experience working with a wide range of faith traditions and spiritual perspectives. I integrate faith into therapy based on the client's beliefs and goals, not my own. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds. For more about my approach to faith integration, you can read my blog post on this topic.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 12 hours' notice to avoid a missed appointment fee.
Emergencies and unexpected situations happen. The first missed appt. without notice will be a one-time exception and will not be charged. Though, communication is always appreciated.
After the first missed appointment, additional no-shows (missed appointments without communication) will result in a $100 fee. If five no-shows occur, continued treatment may no longer be possible, as missed appointments prevent other clients from accessing available appointment times.
How do I know if you're the right therapist for me?
How often will we meet?
Session frequency depends on your needs, goals, and treatment plan. We may meet anywhere from multiple times per week to monthly. Individual therapy is typically scheduled weekly, while EMDR packages often involve more frequent sessions, usually including longer two-hour appointments to support the work.
You should feel that you can be honest with me, and that the work feels meaningful rather than vague. If it turns out I’m not the right fit, that’s okay. A good match matters, and I can help point you toward someone whose style or specialty may serve you better. The goal is for you to get the support that actually helps.
What should I do if I'm in crisis?
I don’t provide emergency services. If you’re in immediate danger or unable to keep yourself safe, please contact local emergency services or call the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988. Once you’re safe, we can reconnect and continue the work.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Therapy is a private and confidential. You can talk openly about your experiences, thoughts, and feelings.
There are a few legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, such as when there is a concern about serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or when disclosure is required by law. We can discuss these limits during your first session so you understand how confidentiality works.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can reach out through my contact form or email me directly. I’ll respond with my current availability and walk you through the next steps for getting started. Once we confirm a time, I’ll send you the intake paperwork so everything is in place before your first session.
Is EMDR right for me?
EMDR may be a good fit if you feel stuck after difficult experiences, find that certain memories still affect you, or notice strong emotional or physical reactions that seem connected to the past. It can be helpful for trauma, anxiety, grief, and other experiences that continue to impact your life.
EMDR is not the right fit for everyone, and we will talk together about your goals, history, and needs to decide whether it is the best approach for you. If another therapy approach would be more helpful, we will explore that together.
