Does Faith Integration Strengthen Therapy? What the Evidence Actually Shows
Therapy is most effective when it reflects the whole person, and for many people, faith is not an accessory to their life. It shapes how they understand suffering, responsibility, and hope. Evidence from the last two decades is remarkably consistent on this point: when clients want their faith included, outcomes improve. Not because faith becomes a technique, but because therapy becomes more accurate. Ignoring a client’s spiritual framework doesn’t create neutrality. It simply creates distortion.
